General Retreat Information
What is included in the retreat package?
Your retreat includes luxury accommodations, daily breakfast, exclusive access to the pickleball club and courts, up to 24 hours of professional instruction and play, wellness amenities, and curated extras such as a welcome gift bag and a mini-tournament with premium prizes.
Where are the retreats held?
We hold our retreats in Guanacaste, Costa Rica located on the northern Pacific coast. El Dorado, the pickleball club, is located in Mar Vista, a luxury gated community.
How many days is each retreat?
Each retreat runs 5–7 days, depending on the session. This allows for a balance of training, relaxation, and exploration.
How many players typically attend each retreat?
We keep retreats intimate and personalized, with 12–16 players. This ensures plenty of individual attention and quality time with the coaches and pros.
Are non-players/partners welcome?
Yes! Partners or friends who don’t play pickleball are welcome to join. They can enjoy the luxury accommodations and amenities, wellness offerings, and excursions while you’re on court.
Pickleball & Coaching
What skill levels are the retreats designed for?
Our retreats welcome players from beginner 2.0 to advanced 4.0+, with instruction tailored to your level. Groups are divided by skill level so everyone feels challenged and supported.
Do I need a partner to attend?
Not at all. We’ll pair you with other players at your level for drills and match play.
Who are the coaches/pros leading the retreat?
You’ll learn from world-class instructors including PPA/APP Professionals and top international coaches. Each retreat features a rotating lineup of pros for variety and expertise.
How much court time and instruction will I get?
Expect 3–6 hours daily of clinics, drills, and play with the pros—plus optional open play. That’s up to 18 hours of pickleball!
Is equipment provided, or should I bring my own paddle?
We recommend bringing your own paddle, but demo paddles from leading brands are available to try. Balls and court gear are provided.
Accommodations & Amenities
What type of lodging is included?
You’ll stay in beachside villas, complete with private rooms, shared living spaces, and modern comforts.
Are meals and drinks included?
Daily Costa Rican breakfast is included, along with healthy snacks and drinks during clinics. Lunches, dinners, and cocktails can be enjoyed at nearby restaurants.
Is there a pool, spa, or gym available?
Yes—retreat guests have access to a pool, gym, pro shop, and cold plunge, along with other amenities.
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Absolutely. We can accommodate vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, and allergy-friendly meal options with advance notice.
Travel & Logistics
How do I get to the retreat location?
Fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR). The retreat location is about 45 minutes away. You’ll be greeted by a Costa Pickle representative.
Do you provide airport transfers?
Yes, airport transfers are included, so you’ll be greeted upon arrival by a Costa Pickle representative.
Is travel insurance required?
We strongly recommend it, as it protects your trip investment in case of unexpected changes. We will provide you a link to recommended travel insurance.
Do I need a passport or visa?
For international guests, a valid passport is required. U.S. and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for stays under 90 days.
What should I pack for the retreat?
Pickleball Gear
- Pickleball paddle
- Court shoes with good grip (non-marking soles)
- Extra pairs of socks (moisture-wicking)
- Lightweight athletic shorts / skirts
- Breathable athletic tops or tanks
- Sweatbands or visor and/or sun hat
- Towel or cooling towel for on-court use
- Small gym bag or tote
Clothing – Off the Court
- Lightweight, breathable clothing (linen, cotton, or quick-dry fabrics)
- Casual resort wear (for dinners or excursions)
- Swimsuits (2–3)
- Flip-flops and sandals
- Comfortable walking shoes or water shoes (for beaches or waterfalls)

Pricing & Booking
How much does the retreat cost?
Retreat packages start at $3,495 per single person, all-inclusive of lodging, breakfast, coaching, and amenities.
What is the deposit amount and payment schedule?
- A deposit of 50% of total retreat cost is required at the time of booking to secure your spot.
- Your spot is not guaranteed until the deposit is received.
- The remaining balance is due 60 days before the retreat start date.
What is your cancellation policy?
- Cancellations more than 90 days before retreat start: Full refund of payments made.
- Cancellations 60–89 days before retreat start: 50% refund of total retreat cost.
- Cancellations 0–59 days before retreat start: No refund.
Retreat Cancellation by Organizer
- In the unlikely event the retreat is canceled by us (e.g., due to weather, insufficient enrollment, or unforeseen circumstances), guests will receive a 100% refund of all payments made, including the deposit.
- We are not responsible for additional costs incurred (such as airfare, or personal expenses), so we highly recommend travel insurance.
Transfer Policy
- If you cannot attend, you may transfer your booking to another person with written notice at least 14 days before retreat start.
- If transferring, the original payment terms and deadlines remain in place.

Are there optional activities outside of pickleball?
Yes—choose from yoga, massage, vitamin IVs, surfing, golf, ATV and jetski tours, or local excursions to waterfalls, beaches, and cultural experiences.
Can I bring family or kids?
Families are welcome! Reach out to us for options.
What is the average daily schedule like?
Mornings and afternoons feature pickleball clinics and open play. The middle of the day is for relaxation or excursions, and evenings are free to enjoy local dining, social events, or optional wellness sessions.
Is this retreat suitable for beginners/intermediate/advanced players?
Yes—all levels are welcome. We create groups and instruction based on your ability so you’re always learning at the right pace.
Safety & Health
What is your policy if it rains or courts are unavailable?
We adapt quickly—offering indoor training sessions just a few minutes away from our courts.
Are medical services available nearby?
Yes, there are clinics and hospitals within 10–15 minutes of the courts and lodging accomodations.
What health and safety protocols do you follow?
We maintain clean, well-kept courts and facilities, follow international safety standards, and work with trusted local providers for transportation, wellness, and excursions.
